Leamington Hotel and Apartments
historic place
The Leamington Hotel and Apartments, located in Seattle, Washington, was constructed between 1915 and 1916. This building was designed as two conjoined properties: a three-story apartment wing and a four-story hotel wing, forming a U-shaped structure around a courtyard. Its exterior features red brick, with the hotel wing's street facade notable for its glazed terra cotta tiles. The Leamington was designated a Seattle Landmark in 1994. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally, the hotel offered single rooms with communal bathrooms, while the apartment wing provided fully serviced units. Over its history, the building has operated under several names, including the Pennington, Penbrook, and Milner. By the 1980s, the building was vacant. It was later renovated and now serves as the Pacific Apartments, providing supportive housing. The Leamington Hotel and Apartments is historically significant as a well-preserved example of an early 20th-century building type in Seattle's downtown core.
