Mount Baker Park Improvement Club Clubhouse

historic place

The Mount Baker Park Improvement Club Clubhouse, a historic place in King County, Washington, was completed in 1914. This two-and-a-half-story wood-frame building showcases the Craftsman architectural style. The Mount Baker Park Improvement Club, formed around 1908, commissioned the clubhouse. The club's purpose was to promote municipal improvements and foster community life in the Mount Baker neighborhood. Local resident and architect Charles C. Dose designed the structure. The Hunter Tract Improvement Company donated the land for its construction. The clubhouse served as a central gathering place for neighborhood activities. After an arson fire in March 1992, the building was renovated and reopened in January 1993. This site remains significant for its continuous role in Seattle's early 20th-century residential development.
