Queen Anne Public School

historic place

Queen Anne Public School in Seattle, King County, is a historic place. Construction began in 1895, and classes opened in the fall of 1896. Architects Warren P. Skillings and James M. Corner designed the building in the Richardson Romanesque architectural style. The school was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Two years later, in 1977, it was designated a City of Seattle landmark. The school closed its doors in 1981. By 1984, the building underwent conversion into condominiums, a project recognized as a national model for the adaptive reuse of surplus historic school properties. This site exemplifies efforts to preserve Seattle's architectural heritage through new uses.
