The Cobb Building, Seattle
historic place
The Cobb Building, a historic place in Seattle's King County, was completed in 1910. Located at 1301 4th Avenue, this eleven-story structure was designed in the Beaux-Arts architectural style. It was the third building in Seattle's Metropolitan Tract and is the only one of its original design remaining. The Cobb Building was the first commercial building west of the Mississippi designed exclusively for medical and dental offices. Its exterior features sculpted Native American ornaments on the upper floors. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. After serving as offices, it was renovated into apartments in 2005. The Cobb Building represents a significant example of early 20th-century specialized high-rise development in Seattle.
