U.S. Marine Hospital
historic place
The U.S. Marine Hospital, located in Seattle's King County, was completed in 1932 and opened in 1933. This Art Deco building, designed by Carl Frelinghuysen Gould, initially served veterans, merchant seamen, and U.S. Coast Guard personnel. It also provided care for federal compensation cases. The facility later became the U.S. Public Health Services Hospital in 1953 and then the Pacific Medical Center. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and designated a Seattle historical landmark in 1992. Now known as the Pacific Tower, this site reflects a significant aspect of Seattle's public health and architectural history.
