Chumasero-Smith House

historic place

The Chumasero-Smith House in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, is a historic place built around 1903. This American Four-Square home features Arts and Crafts architectural details. Alfred and Mary Estelle Chumasero were the original owners. Alfred, a prominent Vancouver businessman, operated drug stores, an electric station, and engaged in real estate. In the 1930s, the house was moved from its original downtown site. Mary Estelle's sister, Ella Smith, and her husband, Otis, moved into the home after a fire and remained there after its relocation. The house was listed on the Clark County Heritage Register in 1997 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It reflects early 20th-century architecture and the families' contributions to Vancouver's growth.
